Claim:  “To date, not a single concrete piece of evidence has been presented in world history to support the existence of God. Religion and God are matters of faith. They require unquestioning obedience.”

Answer:  There is not just one piece of concrete evidence, not a hundred, not a million, but billions of pieces of evidence right before our eyes—from atoms to galaxies, from daisies to tulips, from apples to oranges and pomegranates, from mosquitoes to eagles.

Everything says:

“God made me.”

“I am a work of art.”

“See the One who is my Artist with the eye of your mind.”

Even if you do not see the painter of a portrait, you perceive his existence with the eye of your mind and do not doubt it, because every work points to the one who made it. Every work of art reveals its artist.

Just as someone who denies the existence of a single sun must accept that there is a separate sun in every shiny piece of glass and every drop of water in order to explain the reflections of sunlight seen in countless mirrors, glass fragments, and water droplets, an atheist who denies one God possessing infinite knowledge and power must accept that all the atoms in the universe somehow possess god-like attributes of knowledge and power.

All flowers, fruits, vegetables, birds, and insects were either created by one God, or you would have to believe in as many creators as there are atoms within them. In other words, you would have to abandon reason, logic, and even common sense.

“A village cannot be without a headman. A needle cannot be without a craftsman, nor can it be ownerless. A letter cannot exist without a scribe. So how can this Earth and this Universe, which are so orderly and purposeful, be without a Ruler?”

Can you create an aspirin tablet from its constituent elements? You claim to be intelligent, conscious, and knowledgeable, yet you cannot do so without the necessary scientific knowledge, technology, and expertise.

Yet many people blindly accept the theory that mindless, unconscious, blind, and deaf atoms somehow produced the first living cell by chance. However, under an electron microscope, even a single cell reveals systems of astonishing complexity, organization, and coordination— resembling a city, a factory, or a palace. The creation of such systems requires immense knowledge and power.

Only the unreasonable would believe that the billions of cells in the human body were created and continue to function through the accidental interaction of unconscious causes, elements, and blind chance.

All the proofs of Tawhid (the Oneness of God) are observational. Therefore, the sections of proof found in the Qur’anic commentary Risale-i Nur (The Treatises of Light) often begin with expressions such as:

“We see with our own eyes…”

“We observe…”

“By observation…”

“Lift your gaze and look…”

By drawing attention to the works of art in nature that we can directly observe, they guide the reader toward their Creator, who possesses infinite knowledge and power.

Therefore, reasoning from the observed effect to its cause, from the artwork to its artist, is itself a scientific method.

If a person asks, “Why don’t we see God with our eyes?” then consistency would require them also to deny the existence of X-rays, cosmic rays, air, subatomic particles, gravity, and much of the known universe, since none of these can be directly seen with the naked eye.
